I love this saying: “A lumberjack never wasted time by sharpening his axe.”
Some might read that saying and imagine it’s saying that a lumberjack would never stop to sharpen his axe because that would be a waste of time — but that’s the opposite of the intended meaning.
Rather, the saying means that any time a lumberjack invests to sharpen his axe is not wasted time. A sharp axe cuts down trees more effectively and efficiently. Though it may seem strange to stop the work to sharpen the axe, it’s a worthwhile investment.
By investing in this course, you’ve decided to sharpen your axe. It will be time well spent.
To help you make the most of the course, I’ve created a number of tools:
-
NOTES: To help you capture the ideas we cover as well as other insights you want to remember.
-
EXERCISES: For each lesson, there’s an accompanying exercise that will help you take your leadership to the next level.
-
DISCUSSION GUIDE: Questions to help you apply the lessons individually or with a group of leaders together.
Leadership isn’t optional, it’s inevitable. Your church or ministry will have leadership. My hope is to help you be a competent, healthy leader who has a fruitful ministry over the long haul.
Because the Tomb is Empty,
Luke Simmons
