A Symbol Of God's Presence
During a wedding ceremony, the bride and groom exchange rings as a symbol of their love and pledge to remain faithful. The ring does not contain their love. It only serves as a physical symbol. God cannot be contained by anything, much less an ornate box the Israelites called the ark of the covenant. Yet God intended for the ark of the covenant to symbolize his presence with the people.
