abide-in-christ
Abide In Christ

What happens to your corsage or boutonniere two weeks after prom? It dies, right? For a flower to grow, it needs to be connected to the source of its nutrients. The roots of the plant need to reach into the ground to funnel water and minerals into the stalk. Once we cut them off, they might be pretty for the night, but those lovely floral creations soon wilt, wither, and crumble. The same holds true for our faith. Just as confession and connection are not one-time events for the believer, neither is drawing close to God and finding ways to learn more about him and his character. John 15:1–16 is an agricultural picture of how we relate to God the Father. If we want to continue growing in the Lord, we have to stay connected to the vine! We can be busy bees, serving in the church, going on mission trips, and giving all our money to charity, but if we aren’t connecting with God regularly, we will eventually wither up. If we want God to renew our minds and transform us, things like prayer, Bible reading, and regularly getting together with other believers help us stay attached to the source of our growth. It’s only when we abide in Christ that we are able to bear fruit!

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0852/9874/1564/files/shayna-douglas-GV89QxUF4VI-unsplash.jpg?v=1784263056
