While we all understand the idea of burying something valuable for safekeeping, we also might understand the concept of knowing a field has value for a particular reason and doing whatever is necessary to buy the field. Jesus did this for us. He sees us as the valuable field, and he paid the price to get us. We can follow his leading and do the same for others. We can see the inherent value buried deep within someone and help that person encounter Jesus.
