Home Alone

The Christmas classic Home Alone (directed by Chris Columbus, distributed by 20th Century Fox, 1990) could be seen as a kind of parallel to this parable. Kevin wishes his family would disappear, and when he wakes up and discovers they really are gone, he thinks his wish has come true. As the movie goes on, Kevin regrets his wish and ends up wanting his family back. Concurrently, we see how his mother is doing everything in her power to get back home to her son.
