In The Lord of the Rings, we get to see the Battle of the Black Gate. When the humans, elves, and dwarves advanced on Sauron’s armies they fought through and overwhelmed the gates protecting the land of Mordor. Mordor was not moving its gates to advance against the rest of the world; they were overwhelmed by an advancing force. Just like the army that conquered in The Lord of the Rings, the church is advancing against the gates of hell.
