In The Time Of The Judges
This eight-week series looks at God’s faithfulness and redemptive work in the books of Judges and Ruth. We will see how the Israelites—like us—were repeatedly unfaithful and prone to worshipping idols, yet God chose to rescue them by sending judges—a cycle that plays over and over. It becomes clear that a temporary military leader, a judge, was not enough to sustain and save Israel; they needed a king (and ultimately, the King of Kings). An intimate family story in the book of Ruth—set during the time of Judges, yet in contrast to its brutality—speaks to this deep need for redemption. Just as Ruth is grafted into Israel, from her descendants comes the ultimate kinsman-redeemer who grafts all who believe into the kingdom of God.
