Instead of beating, cursing, and pulling out hair, Jesus is the one beaten, cursed, and mocked. He is hung on a cross, stripped, crowned with thorns, and clothed in shame. Why? To absorb our guilt, sin, and shame—not through external laws or commitments, but through a transformation from the inside out, as the Spirit of God is poured into our hearts.
This is the hope of the gospel—our only hope. Jesus takes our sin, sends His Spirit, and gives us new life. Yet, we still stumble.
