In 1962, a show called Candid Camera put actors on an elevator and had them intentionally stand facing the back wall rather than doors. When an unsuspecting person entered the elevator, no one told them what to do, asked them to turn around, or even spoke to one another. After a few awkward seconds looking around and seeing everyone facing the opposite direction, many eventually turned and faced the back too.
