Who is the Author?

Although early Jewish tradition identified Samuel as the author of this work, the writer of Judges stays anonymous throughout the book and therefore remains unknown.1 Quite possibly the work was written by multiple authors over a long period of time. It is also conceivable that the bulk of the book was composed by one primary author, with some additional redactional work done at a later date. Either way, nothing can be definitively affirmed.
