Food is a great equalizer for humans. No matter how rich or poor someone is, they need to eat to survive. This common feature of humanity is one reason why people can bond so quickly over a shared meal. Obviously, God does not need to eat, but scholars suggest the bread in the tabernacle signals God’s delight to commune with his people. We should embrace the gracious love of God and his desire to be with us.
